In order to improve the connectivity of the Port of Valencia with its hinterland, VPI participates in intermodal projects in dry ports and logistics zones located in other autonomous communities with railway connectivity, with strategic locations, due to their potential for generating, attracting and building cargo loyalty.
Dry ports are intermodal freight terminals located within an economic region that connect, through the railway network, with the seaport of origin or destination of the transported traffic.
The reasons for the implementation of a dry port address, in addition to the necessary existence of cargo that can be transported between the two nodes, connectivity criteria through rail and the existence of nearby communication routes, international connections, economic criteria of commercial demand. , sustainability and population density criteria, etc.
The possibility of having nodes connected to the Port of Valencia contributes to building loyalty and generating cargo, greater competitiveness of the logistics chain due to significant savings in merchandise transportation costs and directly to decongest seaports and access roads. to them, with the consequent reduction of CO2 emissions.
